Game Objectives
Game Objectives
Game objectives are very important to a game, at least from my own experience. With game objectives you can set your own goals or know what you should be working towards. Some game objectives can be explicit or implicit.
- Explicit: When the objective of the game is set in stone and you are directly being told what to do and/or how to do it.
- Implicit: When the game objective is not shown or talked about and you have to find out what it is through different ways or follow your instinct. Sometimes the objective is obvious but you are not told what to do which is implicit.
A great game that does this is Hellbalde: Senua's Hellblade. Your objective is clear in the beggining but you have other implicit objectives throught the game such as to complete puzzles or different stages. The game doesn't specifically tell you where to go but you normally know by the way the road goes or other little hints.
Explicit Objectives
Games which have very clear objectives are: LoL, Overwatch and Smite. They are great examples because some are very complex but you know what to do as you were being told in the tutorial and it's a pvp (player vs player) so of course you need to out-wit your opponent and win. You would need to do this by playing better, strategising and farming better (in LoL and Smite). However, All these elements are differently balanced within each game, for example LoL is a lot more competitive than Smite and Overwatch. LoL is a lot more complex than both of them because your farm, timings, items , map awareness is truly put to the test. In LoL your objective is very clear, get ahead early game and stomp your enemies. Some objectives are implicit but most are quite explicit.
Explicit objectives are very important because they help your player base have an understanding what they might need to do or what they might need to work on in order to succed at your game. This doesn't mean that if the objective is not explicit they won't know how to handle your game but it might take them longer which can be an issue. Game objectives are very important when it comes to huge games such as MMORPGs ( an online role-playing video game in which a very large number of people participate simultaneously ). A very grat exmaple in this is BDO (Black Desert Online).
Implicit Objectives
Implicit objectives can be very tricky at times because they can really make a game interesting but they can also bore out the player (which can be rare but it is possible). Implicit objectives can bore out players especially in single player games when people get stuck in a certain area and does not know what to do.. A lot of people can get past this of course but there are some people who don't even if they may be a minority. A game which has a lot of implicit objectives is BDO. This can has been released in 2016 and when it came out a lot of people were excited. BDO being an MMORPG means that it contains a lot of content and things to do. They could be personal objectives but they were very hidden. For exmaple, if you wanted to make money (which is what the game would want you to do in order to progress). You could do this by grinding which is quite explicit and easy to do. But you could build an empire with workers that work for you and make crates. You could sell those crates. This is extremely implicit because nowhere in the game it tells you that this is an option and is something you as a player would need to find out.

Texas Hold 'em
Texas Hold 'em is a great game to play with your friends if you use chips, if you use real money you it gets a lot more serious. But I think that you only truly understand the game when true money is involved.
The card game is also a lot about thinking about your moves and really using your knowledge to your advantage. There are different hands that you can have and beat people with them. Which are;
-High card (Most Common)
-Pair
-Two Pair
-Three of a kind
-Straight
-Flush
-Full House
-Four of a Kind
-Straight Flush
-Royal Flush (Rarest)
