Papers, Please!
"Papers Please" is a very interesting game. It was developed by 3909 LLC  and also published by them. The game was a huge bang and people still love it.  In this game the player is checking people coming by from country to country. Like an immigration officer.  The game has a lot of mechanics and it has a lot of depth. The player needs to check their birth dates, names, birth towns and so on. It is a very sophisticated game and quite beautifully done. A youtuber, my personal favourite is Jacksepticeye; he loves this game and is quite good at it too. He makes the game 100x more fun to watch due to his humorous nature and viewer interaction. (Link attached to the image)
I personally really love "Papers, Please" because I don't really enjoy single player games but this game just really catches my attention. It is timer based and it also has somewhat of a personal story. Your character after everyday has choices to make and a family to take care of. I love games with decisions that actually have somewhat of an impact no matter how small. Another game that reminds me of "Papers, Please" in a weird way is "The Walking Dead". That's because of all the different decisions you need to make as a player and how you can change the protagonist's life path; which then you need to deal with the decisions you have made wrong or right. With "Papers, Please" you need to be quite fast at what you do and get as many visitors/immigrants over.
What are game troupes?
A game troupe is something that happens so many times over the years in video games that it becomes predictable and that happens in every story. This can become boring quite quickly and annoying. These troupes can be very offensive (Rarely) but it is mostly how they are recieved by the viewer. A very common game troupe is the rainy funeral. Everytime there is a funeral (especially in movies) the weather is bleak, its raining and it's extremely dramatised to be a bad day. It's used as a metaphor for how everyone should be feeling and is most likely feeling during those moments.
However, during Bayonetta's funeral in the game(Bayonetta 2) the weather was extremely sunny and cloud free. This really does break the typical game troupes but (spoiler alert) Bayonetta wasn't actually dead; later revealing herself. The priestress was also her best friend, which is Jeanne, reveals herself and starts fighting the angels. During this whole scene their friends Rodin, Enzo & Luka had no idea that Bayonetta wasn't dead or that the priestress was Jeanne. They thought that Bayonetta had died during her descent and is now probably in hell. (As she is one of the lasts Blair Witches.)
There are plenty of game troupes within Bayonetta as well. Such as: Achievement System, collecting collectables or achieving, Animorphism; Bayonetta can transform into a panther for speed, bats for evasion and a crow for flying and getting a better field view because she has a demon pact with Madamme Butterfly and Bonus Boss; there is a bonus boss in Bayonetta which is Roding that had an amazing difficulty level. These are just a few troupes out of so many that Bayonetta contains.
Some of my own notes about game troupes, from class.
